A former commissioner of police in Lagos Abubakar Tsav has said that President Buhari’s absence from the weekly Federal Executive Council meetings is worrisome.

Tsav told Vanguard the president’s inability to attend FEC meeting should be a source of concern for all who care about Nigeria.

NAIJ reported that the former commissioner said that having initiated the fight against corruption, the president ought to be on the front burner of the campaign.

He said: “Since he initiated the fight against corruption and it is going on fiercely and corrupt people are being taken to courts and custody, and then suddenly he is not attending meetings, people who care for the country should be disturbed.”

The former commissioner of police also said he feared that the fight against corruption might be stalled following the president’s absence.

“My worry is that if for any reason the president is incapacitated, the war against corruption may not continue with the drive and vigor like when the president is around,” Tsav said.

Recall that the president has missed leading the FEC meeting for three times in a row.

The FEC meeting failed to hold last week due to the Easter break, the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina said.

Also the previous week, the president failed to attend the meeting because he was attending to “other issues”, the presidency said.

The president’s absence at the meetings have also raised controversies with many Nigerians querying the state of his health.
