Bukola Saraki’s aide confirms that Babachir did not show up as at the time expected by Senate on Thursday
Babachir was expected to come and provide answers to allegations of corruption leveled against at the public hearing
Senator Sani had confirmed the invitation to Babachir in a statement and said it was a rescheduled invitation to the SGF
Suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal has refused to honour an invitation to him by the Nigerian Senate.
Babachir had been expected to appear before the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis headed by Senator Shehu Sani for the public hearing on allegations of corruption against him.
We however gathered that Babachir did not turn up for the hearing which was slated for 10am.
As at past 11am, Room 117 was empty as pictures taken by broadcast journalist Sumner Sambo showed.
Senate President Bukola Saraki’s media aide Bamikole Omisore also confirmed that the suspended SGF missed his 10am appointment.
We had earlier reported that the Senate confirmed summoning Babachir in a statement by Senator Shehu Sani on Thursday, April 27.
Senator Sani says the invitation is to allow the suspended SGF to appear for the rescheduled investigative hearing.
