The Senate committee on humanitarian issues in the North-East has said that the integrity of the federal government is at stake

The Senate said the investigation on the suspended secretary to the government of the federation Babachir Lawal must be handled appropriately

The Senate committee chairman on the matter Shehu Sani said the fate of the suspended SGF lies in the hands of the acting president

The chairman of the senate committee on humanitarian issues in North-East, Shehu Shehu on Tuesday, May 9, said the fate of the suspended secretary to the government of the Federation Babachir Lawal can only be decided by the acting president Yemi Osinbajo.

Speaking during a breakfast show on Channels Television, Shehu said, it is the acting president that can determine the outcome for Lawal.

We recall that Sani’s panel indicted Lawal for allegedly contracting jobs popularly refereed to as the ‘grass-cutting contract’ to companies he had interest in.

Also, the president had appointed Osinbajo to head an investigative panel of the report submitted by Sani’s committee.

The report we gathered was secretly submitted to the president by Osinbajo shortly before his departure to United Kingdom for medical vacation.

Expressing his views on the matter, Sani said: “Well, we made our report and indicted public officials and companies involved. Now, the ball is on the side of the executive, before the vice-president, and he knows very well that the integrity of the government is at stake.
