It’s the season of defections in Nigeria’s politics
A serving member of the House of Representatives has joined the bandwagon
He is Honourable Pwajok Edward Gyang
Honourable Pwajok Edward Gyang representing Jos South/East federal constituency in the House of Representatives has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
We gathered that the announcement was made by the speaker of the house, Honourable Yakubu Dogara at the commencement of plenary today, Wednesday, May 17.
According to his letter to Dogara, the Plateau lawmaker said his decision was necessitated by the crisis in the PDP and his constituents’ insistence on him joining APC.
Honourable Gyang is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Attorney-General of Plateau state.
Majority leader of the house, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila in his reaction, showered accolades on Gyang, and welcomed him into the fold of the APC.
He also offered his sympathies to the minority leader of the house, Honourable Leo Ogor, who had earlier kicked against the annoucement.
Gyang’s defection is coming a day after 5,000 APC, Labour Party (LP) and All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) supporters moved to the PDP in Enugu state.
The members of the three political parties defected to the PDP and were received during the Enugu West zonal executive meeting.
