He said failure to stop the agitation he is leading could lead to a repeat of the 1966 coup

The former president said Nigeria has had enough of tragedies

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigerians must do everything possible to stop the agitation for Biafra led by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.

We gathered that the former president speaking at the launch of the biography of late Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari on Tuesday, July 4, stressed that failure to do so could lead to a repeat of the 1966 coup and the events that led to unprecedented bloodshed in the country.

He said: “So far, since 1999, it seems that we have got it right. Let us hope that we continue to get it right and learn that Nigeria has had enough of bloodshed, enough of sacrifices by those victims, that Nigeria deserves peace, unity and progress.”

Obasanjo also called for the removal of soldiers who have the backing of political office holder from the army in order to prevent the occurrence of another civil war.

The former president said Nigeria has had enough of bloodshed and sacrifice and called for peace in the country.

He noted that the presence of soldiers who had the backing of political office holders threatened the order in the military insisting that it has led to the killing of soldiers that would have been useful to the country.
