University of the Witwatersrand Admission Form | The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, is a multi-campus South African public research university situated in the northern areas of central Johannesburg.

It is more commonly known as Wits University. The university has its roots in the mining industry, as do Johannesburg and the Witwatersrand in general.
Founded in 1896 as the South African School of Mines in Kimberley, it is the third oldest South African university in continuous operation, after the University of Cape Town (founded in 1829) and Stellenbosch University (founded in 1866).
If you are a South African Applicant, the entry requirements will depend on whether you have a pre-2008 Matric or a NSC (National Senior Certificate Matric).

If you have International Qualifications then you are required to meet the exemption requirements and Faculty specific requirements.

SAQA Evaluation is not required for Undergraduate studies.
Mature Age Applicants -These refer to Pre 2008 matric and international applicants who meet mature age requirements based on their school leaving certificates, i.e. applicants who have not passed the pre 2008 matric with exemption and foreign applicants who do not qualify for a complete/foreign conditional exemption. If 23 years and above, applicants may be eligible to apply on the grounds of mature age exemption to the Faculty of Humanities only.
Such applicants may be required to write a selection test, if no tertiary studies have been pursued.
NB: Please be advised that meeting the likely admission level does not guarantee the applicant admission to the University.
HOW TO APPLY
University of Witwatersrand (Wits) encourage prospective students (Undergraduate) to apply online or with the application form (Hard-Copy) as early as possible for 2018 academic year.
Application deadline is 30 September.

- Applications to Wits must enclose a non-refundable application fee of R100 (for international applicants, R700).

- Submit your Grade 11 report which must be signed and stamped by your school principal.
- If you have already matriculated, attach a copy of your matric certificate.
